We made it to Vegas last Monday.... but not until 3 pm (6 pm Michigan time), which means it took us a full 24 hours to get there. After our flight was cancelled Sunday night, we had to take a connecting flight Monday morning to Charlotte, North Carolina, then get on a plane for Vegas. Sounds simple, right? Not so much. Our flight to NC was on time but the flight to Vegas was delayed two hours. Then, we finally boarded the plane and waited another 45 minutes for baggage. We finally made it into the air and to Vegas, but lost a day due to stupid US Airways (which we will never fly again!).
After we got there, the trip was good. We, of course, chose the hottest week to go (115 degrees every day). Our first day we gambled at the Tropicana where we were staying, then went to see Blue Man Group. That was really neat! We were in the very last row and could still see everything. Wednesday we hung out in the pool, gambled (neither of us did very well, surprisingly haha), then went downtown to meet my cousin Jake and his girlfriend Dorothy at Maggiano's Little Italy (the food was awesome). It was nice to chat with Jake and finally meet Dorothy. We tried to find fireworks but there weren't any. Thursday we had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and hung out at the hotel until we went to The Comedy Stop @ the Trop (Todd Paul was the headliner and he was fabulous!). We left Vegas at 4:45 Friday morning and made it to Denver without a hitch.
Now, we are in the Mile High City (flew Frontier and it was the best flight I've been on). So far, we have watched my cousin Tara's softball practice (she's 8 and they are cute with their mini gloves) and my cousin Julie's game (she'll be a senior this year). Yesterday, we went to Mt. Evans via the winding mountain road with no guard rails 1 foot from the side of the cliff (no joke, we have pictures but didn't bring our cord to transfer them onto the computer... whoops!). It was really beautiful on the way up and we even got to see a really nasty looking mountain goat! When we left my aunt's house, it was 94 degrees. By the time we got 14,500 feet onto the top of the mountain, it was a VERY cold 50 degrees (but a nice change from the 116 degree record setting heat in Vegas). So far, it's been a pretty great honeymoon :)
Pictures to come later!
